Applicability: CountyEdge assistant-connection status and previously connected clients. Editorial review: 2026-10-02. Client interfaces vary. The example is fictional.
Outcome
Understand why assistant connections are paused, continue using your reports, and remove a previously configured connection.
Before you begin
Assistant connections are currently paused. CountyEdge is completing a permission boundary that limits assistants to reading completed reports. New connections and MCP report reads are unavailable during this pause. Normal CountyEdge sign-in, property research, saved reports, and PDF exports remain available.
The previous pilot offered four read tools, but the account credential issued to a client had broader authority. Restricting the tool list does not restrict every underlying Data API or account-management permission. CountyEdge will reopen connections only after the narrower boundary is implemented and verified.
Practical steps
- Open your workspace and find a completed report. Follow Save and read your report if needed.
- To share it with an assistant, export the report PDF and review its contents first. Reports can include private property findings and financial assumptions. Choose what to share and check that assistant's handling and retention of uploaded files.
- If you previously added CountyEdge to an assistant, remove or disconnect that connection in the assistant's settings. Do not start another OAuth authorization request while access is paused.
- You can check Connected apps in Settings. If the authorization service is unavailable during the pause, CountyEdge says so; it does not treat that error as proof that no grants exist. If a grant is listed and management is available, match its app name and client ID, choose Revoke access, then Confirm revocation and wait for confirmation.
- Delete retained chats or uploaded files through the assistant's own controls when appropriate. Pausing or revoking a connection does not erase copies it already received.
Never paste account passwords, access tokens, or refresh tokens into an assistant chat.
Worked example
A fictional investor opens a completed rental-property report in CountyEdge, checks the findings and assumptions, then exports its PDF. They share that file with their trusted assistant and ask it to summarize findings, unknowns, source dates, and assumptions without treating missing amounts as zero.
The assistant can discuss the uploaded file. It has no live CountyEdge connection and cannot fetch a newer report through that file.
How to interpret it
The pause closes the existing connection path; it does not mean report-only authorization has been delivered. The previous MCP tool names remain reserved: list_property_reports, get_property_report, list_reports, and get_report. They are currently unavailable through the public MCP endpoint.
Previously issued credentials and information already downloaded are different from new connections. Revocation prevents refresh and ends the corresponding Auth sessions, but an already-issued token can retain underlying Data API access until expiry. The pilot's live check confirmed this remaining access after revocation. Removing a client-side connection alone does not establish server-side revocation. Do not interpret an error or an old answer in an assistant as proof of current access.
Common problems
- An old connection link says access is paused: return to your CountyEdge workspace. Repeated authorization attempts will not reopen access.
- A client reports the MCP server is unavailable: this is expected during the pause. Use the report PDF workflow above.
- Connected apps says connection management is unavailable: the provider's authorization service is paused. This message is not an empty-grant result.
- The assistant still shows an old answer: it may be displaying retained information. Use the assistant's own deletion controls for stored copies.
- You want current findings: open the report in CountyEdge and inspect its source dates. Reading or exporting saved work does not rerun research or refresh evidence.
Next action
Open your saved reports. Review Your account and privacy and Understand property evidence before sharing report contents with an assistant.
